Andrea Roeder, an attorney and one of the founding members of SBH (Botswana), was our first tutor for sewing but she moved back to Germany in July 2013. In their sewing course with Andrea SBH boarding students started at a beginner level but made considerable progress. They developed skills working with electric sewing machines, measuring fabric and cutting simple patterns up to level of production of textile items, such as bags, pencil cases and aprons. The sewing course had to be suspended when the sewing tutor Andrea left and SBH Management decided not to organize a new sewing teacher in the final term to give students opportunity to study for their Junior Certificate examinations. It is intended, to resume the sewing course with the beginning of 2014, when the new students are enrolled.
The SBH sewing course is equipped with two electric sewing machines, donated by private supporters, as well as two manual sewing machines donated by Barclays Bank Botswana.
