Alongside the academic program, Springboard established a Tuck Shop, situated on the SBH premises. Springboard helps one young woman at a time to gain competency and knowledge in how to run a business. This tutoring in business and economic skills lasts one year and has its focus on enabling the women to achieve economic self-sufficiency. The tutoring of the women is not solely based on entrepreneurship skills, but follows a holistic approach. Their training is accompanied by a life-skill training to develop positive self-esteem, a sense of value and to enhance the self-confidence.
SBH aims to enable them to build up their own business/tuck shop at their villages and in this way achieve economic self-sufficiency. Being economically independent, they can take care for themselves as well as for their children, siblings and families and be a role model for others in their community.
